Our second learning event, “Fundamentals of Polycentric Inspection Model and the Case in  Turkey” was completed successfully between 04th and 9th April 2022 with 30 participants from 9 partners.

The LTT which was hosted by DCU started off with an opening speech by the Dean of DCU Faculty of Education, Prof. Anne Looney. On the first day of the event, Chief Inspector Dr. Karina Holton and Inspector Harun GÖNCÜ from Turkish Inspectorate made presentations about the Irish and Turkish Inspection Systems.The presentations were followed by “Irish Polycentric Evaluation Systems and Network Management” which was co-presented by Prof. Joe O’Hara and Prof. Martin Brown.

During the morning session of the second day Prof. Joe O’Hara and Profesör Martin Brown discussed the “Challenges and Opportunities for the Professional Learning Networks in Ireland.” In the afternoon, Dr. Fiona Collins made a presentation on “DCU Changemaker Schools Initiative”. In the following session, Dr. Shivaun O’Brien from DCU Institute of Education presented “Quality Framework, Evaluation standards, training and support on network level for Irish schools.”

On the third day, Dr. Patrick Shevlin and John Murray from the Northern Irish Inspectorate provided and overview of  “School Inspection and the Self Evaluation Model in Northern Ireland.” In the afternoon, Dr. Patrick Shevlin and Prof. Martin Brown made a presentation about their experience with DCU School Policy and Practice and Shaped Professional Learning Network in Practice. In the final session of the day, the group discussed school networks and the inspection of school networks under the light of the Irish model.

On the fourth day of the training: A study was visit Dublin Scoil Fhursa was carried out and the school management team and the teachers informed the group about the network practices and inspection as well as the work of the networks the school was a part of.

On the last of the training event a general evaluation of the week was performed which was followed by a certificate ceremony. In the afternoon the LTT event was concluded with a discussion of the upcoming events and work to be done in addition to the planned project outcomes.
